Las Vegas Fire & Rescue

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue (LVFR) serves the City of Las Vegas — roughly 650,000 residents across 135 square miles, including the downtown core and a substantial share of the resort corridor. The wider metropolitan area is covered by Clark County Fire Department (which protects the unincorporated Strip), Henderson Fire Department, and North Las Vegas Fire Department; LVFR coordinates closely with these neighbours through automatic-aid agreements. The department fields about 700 uniformed members from 19 fire stations, providing structural fire suppression, advanced life support emergency medical service, technical rescue, and hazardous materials response. The combination of dense high-rise resort buildings, large public-assembly venues, and desert wildland-interface terrain shapes the department's risk profile. Firefighter recruitment is administered by the City of Las Vegas Department of Human Resources. The process includes an online application, written examination, the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), medical and psychological evaluation, background investigation, and an interview. Successful candidates attend the LVFR Training Academy for a recruit course covering structural and high-rise firefighting, EMT/paramedic-level emergency medical care, and technical rescue. Hiring windows are announced on the official careers page — confirm eligibility and status there. Bluewatch is a directory.
