North Las Vegas Fire Department

About NLVFD

The North Las Vegas Fire Department (NLVFD) protects the City of North Las Vegas — approximately 280,000 residents across roughly 100 square miles in Clark County, Nevada, adjacent to and substantially distinct from the City of Las Vegas (Clark County Fire Department covers the Las Vegas Strip and unincorporated Clark County; NLVFD covers the separately incorporated city to the north). The combination of substantial industrial and aerospace corridor (Apex Industrial Park, Nellis Air Force Base immediately east), high-desert wildland-urban interface, and extreme summer heat substantially shapes the operational picture. NLVFD fields about 195 uniformed members from 10 fire stations and operates an all-hazards model: structural fire suppression, advanced life support emergency medical service (NLVFD operates ALS rescue units providing primary 911 ambulance transport within the city), technical rescue, hazardous materials response, and wildland firefighting on the city's desert WUI edge. Automatic-aid response across the Las Vegas valley with Clark County Fire, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, and Henderson Fire is routine. Firefighter recruitment is administered by the City of North Las Vegas Human Resources Department under Nevada civil service rules. The process includes a written exam, CPAT, oral interview, and medical and background screening. Bluewatch refers candidates to the official portal.
